The simple things, the true things. The silent men who do things

About a year ago I posted about keeping on keeping on, it was at this time of year and I had noticed that squad members were struggling. One year later, same challenge. The level of the group is higher in all areas, but this isn't seen when you're on the inside. There is a 'plot' for every member, no member is spoofing along. There is honesty and hard work being done, there is some real quality starting to show- not just in the obvious form of invites to train with the 'U23' Irish group but quality in the pattern of rowing, quality in the attention to doing things better, the kind of quality that comes from training maturity and the understanding of why you are at training. There is quality in the determination of injured members to keep at it.
Perhaps it is what makes these positives occur that is also the very reason for the challenges that are now eating at the head. Humans humbly seeking excellence at what they do rarely observe just how special they are, and never make a big deal of it.
