Pointless exercise?

The main aim of the last few days has been to challenge the group with mileage. With this done for the day and the lake behaving itself some of the scullers were given a new task, standing and turning 360 degrees. I've yet to see a table showing the direct relationship between being able to do this exercise and boat speed but it is definitely noticeable that the better scullers do it, and do it faster.

  1. As you seem to point out, it's important not to confuse a test of ability with something which will improve ability (ala WCS).

Also a big danger of affirming the consequent (Fast scullers -> Fast at rotation; Fast at rotation |= fast sculler).
