Got over to Whitegate to see a different form of the same thing on Sunday. A couple of the UCC lads raced and won. I snapped them in the shadow of one of the World's largest cruise liners, the Caribbean Princess. She weighs in at 112,000 gross tons over twice that of the Titanic, which left the same harbour (her last departure) over 101 years ago.
On Monday I was back on the water for the first time since the Irish Rowing Championships. Good to get some scullers out for technical work ahead of the full programme beginning on September 2nd.
It is noticeable that the time off has allowed individual's brains to work out some of the concepts that were worked on during the second half of last season and as a result there is some excellent progress being demonstrated already. An added bonus today was Linda jumping into a double with Sanita, a fantastic opportunity to experience first hand sculling with the best in the Country.

Today I finally got to put the Irish Rowing Championships trophies on display in the cabinet behind reception at the Mardyke Arena. It's great to have them on show alongside the GAA and Hockey silverware. The cabinets are reasonably full but there is definitely room for more lads..
