The UCCRC entries are in and the list of entries is out:
2013 Irish Rowing Championships entry list
UCCRC has 15 boats entered over the 3 days. Friday is a relatively quiet start with just one boat in the morning and one in the afternoon. The morning sees the men's intermediate 4+ take on 8 other crews and in the afternoon the novice 8 will have a straight final against some now familiar opposition.
Saturday's racing will start with Mark racing in the Novice single, one of 38 entrants in this event. This is one of the few events with heats, semis and a final so there is the opportunity for plenty of racing. Also on Saturday morning is a straight final for the Intermediate 8.
Saturday afternoon is the time for UCC's women's novice scullers to do their thing.
Sunday is UCC's busiest day. In the morning racing is kicked off by the women's intermediate 4+ followed immediately by the men's intermediate 2-. The third boat of the morning is the men's novice 4+. The afternoon's racing and the final session of racing of the Championships features the College's intermediate women racing in singles and four of our intermediate men racing in two doubles.
I am delighted to say that all members of the squads who have trained all year including two camps since exams finished in June are racing. I am also delighted that the UCC entry is significantly larger and of higher quality than last season. I am looking forward to seeing how all the crews get on.
As this season draws towards it's final curtain, I am also looking forward to 2013/14, there are many exciting developments happening within the World of sport at UCC. Plotting is afoot...
