Scores are in

Good atmosphere in the room last night for the first free rate 2k all squads test of the season. Senior and Intermediate men went first. There was a definite focus, a huge leap from the efforts last season. On at least one occasion in the 2011/12 season the squad was made to do three 2k tests in one session due to the pathetic effort displayed. No such problems this year.
Warming-up, the calm before the storm
Many lessons will have been learnt by the novice women who were doing their first 2k. The most consistently discovered fact being that you are not immortal, going over the first 500m at a pace several seconds faster than your target score will cost you in the form of coming to a near standstill in the third quarter.
First group of women go off

Second  men's group at it

Novices, not a single piece of GAA kit, progress.
The prize, be it no more than bragging rights goes to the novice men who demonstrated impressive consistency in their splits and solid work rate. Mr Buckley standing out, putting himself into all sorts of oxygen debt and lactic acid related pain- just needs to back that up with turning up on time, every session.
Overall, numerous personal bests and a few disappointments but nothing that those individuals cannot learn from, if they take the responsibility.
