A different perspective

Good to see plenty of prospective national team rowers down at the lake today and good to see the college boats getting on with it without too much distraction. Weather was better than forecast, I flipped the 3x2k session to Sunday to keep clear of the course while it was used for a couple of 1500m pieces. Second session was drills and paddling again. Continuing to work on confidence and connection at the front-end.
No swimmers today but continued evidence of individuals getting further forward with the wheels rather than the trunk.
With no scheduled classes for the coming week it is a perfect opportunity to get some mileage on the water and make a permanent change or two prior to the Christmas break (off the water, land training will of course continue).
A classic example of the weather we get here was demonstrated today in that the blue sky you see in the pictures became a very heavy downpour of freezing rain for just long enough to soak everyone on the water immediately prior to the end of the session.

Following the two senior sessions the beginners were left coxless, so I got to experience the action from the best seat in the house:
It was very informative and gave me feedback that I wouldn't get from the launch and I enjoyed it but sadly I'm 40kg overweight so I don't think the lads would have me- I don't think the boat would last too long  either...
